Neighborhood Learning Center provides a morning preschool program to help transition children from a home environment to a formal kindergarten program. Our center is located in "old town" Niwot. As in a typical home, our center is designed with small rooms, each having a specific purpose. At all times throughout the building, we emphasize our goals as we foster self-esteem through communication and socializing.
In the morning preschool program, children are grouped age appropriately. The different age groups are on a rotating schedule and visit two different activity centers with their teacher each morning. Story time, snack and outside play are also incorporated daily during preschool. Preschool is a structured time where children are given appropriate choices, and learning time includes both teacher directed and child directed activities.
For children needing additional time to accommodate parent schedule needs, our program operates from 7:00am to 6:00pm. We balance our program with playtime before and after preschool time. Our full-day program includes a nutritious lunch and a nap or rest. Our afternoon schedule includes mixed age groups with choices of various activities emphasizing learning through play and socialization.
We also provide a before and after school program. We provide transportation from Niwot Elementary School kindergarten. Public school buses provide transportation before and after elementary school.
On public school vacation days, a camp program for children in kindergarten through grade five is provided. Camp is a full day program which includes various field trips and fun activities.
